Toxic Foods to Avoid Entirely
Chocolate (contains toxic methylxanthines), grapes and raisins (cause sudden kidney failure), onions and garlic (damage red blood cells), and products containing the sugar substitute xylitol (causes life-threatening insulin spikes) must be kept strictly out of reach.
Beautiful but Deadly Flora
Many common houseplants are highly poisonous. Lilies are extremely toxic to cats; even swallowing a tiny grain of pollen can cause fatal kidney failure. Sago Palms, Tulips, and Philodendrons are also severe health hazards for curious chewers.
Chemical and Medication Security
Never administer human pain medication (like Ibuprofen or Tylenol) to pets, as they cause fatal organ failure. Store cleaning chemicals, laundry pods, rodenticides, and automotive antifreeze (which has a sweet, tempting taste but is lethal) securely in locked cabinets.
